A stunning early Edwardian silver comport by Henry Atkin, Sheffield 1904. A six point star centre is enclosed by pierced and cast grape vines above a circular foot. Weighing in at just short of 1kg of silver, at 950 grams (30.6 Troy oz) this was a major piece of early 20th century silver, a design later offered by Asprey’s

In superb condition, there are some very feint marks on the star, as you would expect for a piece of this age (please see photographs)

A compote (or 'comport' from a 16th Century variation of compote) was used for serving fruits, nuts, or sweets, and was typically made from glass, porcelain or silver.

Weight: 950g
Diameter: 30cm
Height: 6cm
(Fruit not included!)
